Thanks for that Heather. I've got 2 kids that really struggle with math - especially division. I'm definitely going to check this out. Matt

Yeah, if you can get them to say what they're going to do next time, that's good. So instead of "I'm not going to hit him" it's "I'm going to go to my room to calm down". Make them come up with an action plan to avoid the offensive behavior.

Thank you; I will be happy to help on the forum page. I wanted to notify your parent members of my blog as I am writing in-depth articles about parenting issues of today. I will also offer my expertise here; my intention is to help as many parents as possible work their way through parenting children with behavioral issues.

Thank you for having me here.

I'm rather shy in the beginning, but I'm sure as time goes by I will open up more.

Hope I can learn and contribute as well.

Hopefully you'll get the IM cranked up to the point of supporting you. It's definitely the way to go, though it is slow going for me anyway. I'm about do delve into the video (YouTube) world, see how that works!

Hey Matt,

You surely have your hands full! Right now I am full time stay at home dad. I am doing some IM but not enough to make ends meet...that will come. My little guy is going to school (pre primary), so he is gone during the week days. My daughter is 18m and home with me. We have just started to send her to a babysitter a couple days a week so I can focus on IM. I was laid off from the auto industry last year and decided to stay home. With only my wife's income, I find I am spending more of my time looking for work outside the house till I get this IM thing generating a substantial income. But it will happen.

Seven Permissive Parenting Styles

I've been having major trouble around our house concerning 3 of our kids and the inability (or unwillingness is more like it) to be ready to leave for school on time. I started thinking about the problem, and wondered if this was my fault (Heaven forbid!) or theirs. Well, the conclusion I came to was a little of both. Let me explain.

Starting with my 'go to' Total Transformation workbook, I searched for the answer. Much to my surprise, I stumbled onto one in the Ineffective Parenting Roles sect… Continue

Age Appropriate Behaviors

Most of my articles come from real-life experiences, and this one is no different. I had just gone 15 rounds with 3 of my kids trying to get them to school on time, and I was worn out. It seemed to me that this had been a pretty regular thing lately, and I started thinking to myself "What am I doing wrong?" My mind went down that path a little way, but not too far, since that way was looking like this might be my fault. So, I took a little detour off that path and thought "Maybe I'm expecting to… Continue

Oppositional Defiant Disorder - One Battle After Another

I'm the parent of five adopted kids, and I'm here to tell you that I know a little about oppositional defiance disorder in children, or ODD for short. James Lehman, behavioral therapist and creator of The Total Transformation Program for parents, says that a day with a child with oppositional defiance behavior is a series of battles in an undeclared war. It starts when they wake up, continues at breakfast, intensifies when they have to get dressed, and doesnt end until they fight with you over b… Continue
