Thanks for sharing, Priya. I have 5 adopted kids, so it's very near to my heart. It really broadens my view of adoption to read about it in India.

I think the stress is the thing that makes it hardest for me to parent. If I am stressed out, I lose my temper and my patience. Much needed in parenting. So if finances are hard, I have to really focus on not letting the stress be the parent.…

How To Motivate Teenagers

One of our main struggles as parents has been just how to motivate kids - Two of our young people in particular. One of them is just plain lazy, the other one is a struggling teen - problems in school, usually despondent, and at times quite obnoxious. You definitely need to have a strategy to inspire kids, and here are a several ideas that we've discovered over the years that we've discovered work really well. One of the things we've learned is that it's very unlikely for teens not to be…See More

Hey, Matt, Thanks for the comment. Reading is important. Also, good content is important, as well. In today's world, content is something we have to be careful of. Story Time For Me was created not just to provide the tools for reading, but…

Adoption In India Comes Of Age

Modern India Re-Defines The Extended Family

There was a time when Indian couples thought of adoption only when they were unable to have a biological child. The preference was to adopt a healthy male child. Why? Some wanted a male heir to carry on the

family lineage, or considered a son mandatory to light one’s funeral

pyre for salvation. Others stated that they wanted a son who would take

care of them when they were old.…

Economy Makes it Tough to be a Good Parent

This economy is really tough on parents. My business just cut our insurance, so now all we have is catastrophic health insurance. So how am I suppose to pay for my child's ADHD meds? He needs them badly, but I can barely make ends meet as it is. I already work a second part time job too. If I take more hours away from my family, who is influencing them. The world is much more… Continue

Reading...from a Grandparent

I guess once a parent...always a parent.

We should all taking reading seriously.

I, unfortunately, back in the '50's, did… Continue

Do You Want to Have More Spontaneous Sex?

Why do happy, satisfied married couples have so little spontaneous sex? (My apologies to those couples that actually do have spontaneous sex. Perhaps you can write in and let us know how you do it?)

The first obvious impediment to spontaneous sex is lack of time. Increasingly, we live in a world where our schedules rule. Who has time for sex when you are busy rushing kids to practice, calling clients or returning one last e-mail until the very moment your head hits the… Continue
